Day-by-Day Itinerary Plan
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) where your dedicated chauffeur-guide greets you with fresh orchid garlands. Transfer in an air-conditioned vehicle to the heart of Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle. Check into your eco-resort overlooking the jungle canopy and unwind by the pool.
Early morning climb of the monumental 5th-century Sigiriya Lion Rock Citadel to beat the heat and marvel at ancient fresco paintings and the mirror wall. In the afternoon, partake in an authentic village immersion including a wooden catamaran ride across lotus-filled lakes and a clay-pot culinary demonstration.
After breakfast, explore the Dambulla Cave Temple complex containing over 150 Buddha statues carved into living rock. Continue south into the misty hills of Kandy with a stop at a spice sanctuary in Matale. In the evening, witness a cultural dance show and the evening Pooja ceremony at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
Stroll through the world-renowned Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya featuring giant Java fig trees and orchid displays. Ascend through twisting mountain roads lined with emerald tea plantations and gushing waterfalls into Nuwara Eliya, fondly nicknamed "Little England". Board the legendary Ceylon Blue Train for one of the top five most scenic rail journeys on Earth, gliding through misty cloud forests, mountain tunnels, and tea estates. Disembark in the mountain hamlet of Ella and hike to the architectural marvel of Nine Arches Bridge just as the train passes.
Admire the thundering cascades of Ravana Falls before descending the southern mountain passes. Head back toward the vibrant commercial capital of Colombo. Enjoy an evening walking tour of the historic Fort district and sunset over Galle Face Green promenade.
